ECDL learning and examination, a European project that aims to acquire such knowledge in informatics, which guarantees basic computer literacy, now increasingly common requirement in performing everyday tasks, especially in the education system.
ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) program contains a number of different areas of which the most important for us ECDL basic program. Basic ECDL consists of seven modules, which are listed below:
- 1. Basic Concepts of Information Technology - includes knowledge of the basic concepts of computer hardware and software part, therefore, devices and programs that make up a computer, further understanding of the basic concepts of computer networks and the Internet, the possibilities of application and use of computers in various disciplines and in everyday life, the importance of data security and information and vulnerability to viruses, ergonomic, health and environmental aspects associated with the use of computers and the concept and importance of copyright in computer science and a part of the law related to Applied Informatics.
- 2. Using the computer - managing files relating to the use of the basic functions of a personal computer and operating system, mainly working with directories (maps, folders) and files, which includes basic procedures such as opening files, storing, transferring and copying, deleting files, file search , compression, printing and defend against viruses. It discusses the basic adjustment settings of your computer and run applications and use other simple tools that contains the operating system. The adoption of this material the user will learn to use the computer.
- 3. Text processing - refers to the knowledge and skills in the use of computers in an application called word processing. The adoption of the material of this module the user will learn how to open a document on your computer, or create a new one, how to perform various operations with the text of the entry, formatting, deleting, to memorize, sorting, entering additional information in the form of tables, images, drawings, graphs, sorting text and documents, memorizing, and printing in different formats or distributing text documents using a computer. The adoption of this module acquires knowledge that is highly usable both in business and private life because of all the applications most commonly used just word processing.
- 4. Spreadsheets - containing material that relates to the spreadsheet and work with tables of different types, sizes and levels of complexity. The adoption of this material the user will learn how to create tables, perform various mathematical operations with the data in the table, from the simplest calculation of totals or averages for individual columns to complex statistical calculating, the combination of text and numeric data in the table, operations with tables, memorizing tables, writing in form a variety of charts and graphs, and handling the sheets and books of tables.
- 5. Database - refers to the database and the user will be adopting this material to learn the basic theoretical concepts of databases (terms of tables, records, fields, data types, search keys, etc.), but the practical work on the creation of a database or data table , perform basic operations with the database (sets), determination keys, search and sort the database and create print and print various types of forms and reports.
- 6. Presentation - refers to the presentation of data and information. The adoption of the new materials the user will learn how to create a presentation, from simple entry and editing text on the pages that represent a kind of slide show and is usually a projector, to the introduction of complex objects such as charts, pictures, animations, then add sound and light effects, and linking all the pages in a continuous presentation of the show, a view that runs and runs on a separate projector attached to a computer.
- 7. Networking and Internet - relates to information and communication. Here the user is introduced to the concepts of the Internet and the World Wide Web (WWW), search engines and search the web, navigate the web, e-mail and the whole technique of electronic communication. Material is practically oriented and everything should start immediately within the examples that clearly show how the ways and methods of use, and features that provide electronic communication today. And this module is very practical and very interesting for those who are beginning to use computers, but also those who are already using.

A similar program is specified ICDL (International Computer Driving Licence). Many institutions and companies around the world maintain ECDL / ICDL courses and exams are conducted on qualification for the acquisition of computer diploma, and in some of them students and pupils achieve significant discount. Students and pupils this should not miss.
